L.I. EQUINE'S MESSAGE BOARD

Welcome to LI Equine's Message Board! This is the place to post your ideas, suggestions, stories, etc. All are invited to keep us up to date on what's going on at your barn in the "Barn News" section. The "Bargain Barn" is available for you to list for sale all items under $100 (any item over $100 is considered a classified ad and must be submitted as such!) Please remember that we do not post horses for sale, lease, or share board unless the horses are for free. We also don't post classified ads on the message board. And....please remember - if you don't have anything nice to say - don't say anything at all!

"Mommy and Me" Program at Project Sage Horse Rescue
Project Sage Horse Rescue is starting a new program at our new farm in Northport. We are looking for horse lovers 16 and older that want to come to the farm and spend time one on one with a rescue horse. You will be assigned one horse to work with and spend time with. Each horse will have two "Mommy's". We have many horses that need TLC and this program gives the horses a chance to have a one-on-one relationship with someone until they are adopted. Your responsibility will be working on ground manners, grooming, and riding. You will be responsible for the over all care of the horse. We always have older retired horses that just need to be pampered. All applicants MUST be experienced with horses. References will be checked and there is a short interview process. This is a great program for people who are looking to help the rescue horses become more adoptable.

Please contact Brittany at Sportie1030@aol.com for more information.

  Adoption Saves a Life
Project Sage Horse Rescue has some very nice horses waiting for their forever homes. Can you give a horse another chance at life by offering a forever loving home? Adoption of a rescued horse opens a spot for another horse, in danger of being shipped to slaughter. Please help if you can. Look at our website for pictures and descriptions of the available horses. Email me at Sportie1030@aol.com to make an appointment to come out and meet a horse. You don't have to ride to adopt and love a horse. I have some horses just waiting to give their unconditional love. Please spread the word...we need homes for many horses.

If you are unable to adopt at this time, donations are also greatly needed to feed and care for these horses while they wait. No donation is too small! If you work for a company please ask if they will donate or match your donation. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and donations are tax deductable.

If you have a fundraising idea and would like to run an event for the horses email me with your idea. I would love your help!

If you have season tickets and can donate two that you won't be using, please donate them to Project Sage. I can raffle them off to benefit the horses. If you have something you can donate I will turn it into donations for the rescue!

Please copy this post and email it to everyone in your address book and ask them to please do the same. It may save one life.

Donations can be sent to:

Congratulations to Jen who rode our draft horse Leo (AKA Lazy Leo) in the IHA show today. Drafts are not known for their ambition on a warm day. She got a 3rd, 4th and a 6th and Leo was very well-behaved. It was a first show for both of them. Jen's friend Angela also did very well in her classes.

  Looking for a stall
I put an ad on Li horse properties as well but I figured I would post here as well.

I am looking for a barn with an extra stall available with either an in/out or a stall with a separate paddock. The barn needs to be in either Medford, Islip area, Bohemia and possibly Mannorville or Ridge. Board can't be more than $500. I ride english and western, a barn near trails would be a plus. I will respond ASAP. I need to move my horse by the end of the month.

IHA WP May 16 Show Results
The Western Pleasure Committee would like to thank the many helpers who lent a hand before, during and after our first show. You made this the best show the present committee has had so far. Our first ever Bridleless Riding class was fantastic, with four riders executing a Horsemanship pattern without the aid of a bridle or halter. Great riding by all and congratulations to Matt Savarese for coming out first. Congratulations also to Gregg Norton on being the winner of our first $50.00-Added Open Reining Class, sponsored by The Hay Loft. Our Hunter entries found that besides their ribbons, F.W.Sims had a small prize for all the entrants. Thank you all again, riders, volunteer trail judge, and the very many helpers!

    Hi!

I am a pre-veterinary student interested in a volunteer position, an internship or working for low pay over the summer with a vet. I have been around horses for over ten years and I have no issue with working hard, I have references available. However, I would be equally as happy to work with a small animal vet; any experience would be great! I am a people person as well, I'm a customer service representative at the tax office part time. I really would appreciate any opportunities offered to me. I am coming back from Virginia Tech in mid-May and can work my office hours to suit. Please feel free to contact me if any of this sounds good to you, hope to hear a response!

Thank you!

Im currently a senior in highschool and im heading off to meredith manor equestrian college in the fall, but i am looking for experience! I can ride, walk trot etc... just looking for someone who can fill me in on the rest, and give me some extra experience! I am a plus sized girl, but i have always been able to ride, and my trainers favorite! I've done both english and western, but im more familiar in western. Willing to do either! Even if you just need someone to groom, and take care of the barn, i'll be more than willing!

I will travel anywhere between orient and riverhead, and would greatly appreciate a response!
Thanks bunches!

-Danielle

  Back Yard Barns
    Hi,
Does anyone know of any back yard barns in either brookville, islip, or huntington that are taking boarders? It would need to be able to take 3 horses and be able to bring in your own trainer. The sooner the better. Thanks!

  Lil Bits Riders
Thomas School Clinic Michael Page Clinic

Lil Bits Farm riders had a blast! Jenny took her kids to the clinic; it was a great experience for the riders. It was something that they enjoyed during the winter break. The kids have had a lot of barn gatherings during this time off. We had one party at Laurie's house for Christmas, one party at Jenny's new house a holiday party. Today some of the kids enjoyed the Clinic. They are really a great group of kids. I honestly love them all!

  Stables/Trainers Specializing in Autism?
I am looking for a trainer or stable that specializes in training
kids with Autism. My nephew was attending a riding class through
his preschool (possibly at Saddle Rock Ranch?) and my sister asked me to look into lessons for him. I rode at Smoke Run and
Majestic/Waterford which have both been sold and my trainer moved
upstate, so I am not sure who to ask. If anyone has any good solid recommendations, please let me know. Thanks!

  Horses Needing Winter Work?
Looking for those who need horse(s) worked/trained/exercised this winter. I have 10 years' experience training and riding sale horses for hunters and jumpers (some equitation); before that, I owned and trained my own jumper. I worked part-time for a few barns in the past and now am just looking to do it on a casual basis, no money exchanged. I'm confident, gentle, and experienced with all sorts of breeds/types/issues. I can train the very basics, and add polish to horses already well under way. Off-the-track TBs, WBs; hot jumpers; mello hunters; horses with training issues. Email brifreehorses@excite.com if interested.

Give a Gift From the Heart
To kick off the holiday season we are having a hay fundraiser to benefit the Project Sage Rescue horses. We have joined with Neptune Feed Store from Nov.1st through Dec. 24th in the hopes of hearing from those that would like to donate a bale of hay for the horses. A bale of hay is a wonderful gift from the heart as these horses wait for their forever homes.

If you would like to give a holiday gift of hay please call Neptune at 631-369-0965 They will take your gift order and add it to the Project Sage folder in preparation for delivery.

Thank you,
