Horse for Once a Week Ride? |
| |
|
Anyone that might have a bombproof horse of any age, on Blydenburg, and will take $100.00 a month for me to just trail wander, please call me.
Horse must be kind as they come.
I will feed the day I come and clean up stall, etc.
I don't want to ride too much, but love Blydenburg because this...I can navigate. It's just big enough.
And close to my home too.

Looking to Ride Once a Week in Smithtown |
| |
|
Hi Folks,
I am posting now the busy time is over....
Looking for really laid back, kind and calm horse to ride once a week in Smithtown around Blydenburg Lake. I am a bit stiff and creaky, so the horse must be really bombproof and safe to work around. I go slow, with my dream ride being a walk, trot, and a canter or two...and not a long one at that.
I will brush out horse, and clean and feed twice a week for an AM or PM in return.
I bet there is someone out there who would like their horse ridden quietly by someone who has a soft touch, but the horse has to be kind too.
Thank you.

I am looking for someone to ride my large pony on Mondays and Thursdays in exchange for grooming and spoiling her companion pony after you ride. Would be best for an intermediate rider at the walk trot or advance rider for walk trot canter. While she is not easy to ride I am not looking for someone to "train" her just someone who wants to have fun. She and her little friend are located in Mannorville. Would prefer someone under 120lbs Nat I saw your post so if you are interested please e-mail me. PonyGirl5700@yahoo.com

Advanced Hunter/Jumper Lessons |

I'm a solid 3'+ rider looking for a place to take a good, but affordable, hunter or jumper lesson once a week. I can confidentlhy get around a 3' course on difficult or problem horses, but am looking for a barn that might have a solid horse for me to lesson on maybe once a week so I can focus on myself. If you know of any places I might try, email brifreehorses@excite.com. Thanks.

Horse Lover/ Art Teacher in need of PT Work |
| |
|
Hi I am 25 years old and love horses. I have been working around horses and riding since I was 10 years old. I currently work at a crafts store at night part time this summer and could use some extra money to pay the bills during the day. I am a certified riding instructor and have worked in a barn setting for years. I was on the University of Delaware equestrian team and am a certified Art teacher. I can do anything from riding to stalls and then some. If anyone has some part time work that they need me to do either horse or art related I would be very grateful. Please contact me at prbauer@optonline.net or call me at 516-317-0183

Looking for someone who needs a horse exercised or ridden. I rode from the time I was six until i went away to college last year and had to sell my horse. I really miss riding and would love to help out if you need your horse ridden, I can ride english or western and have experience jumping up to 2'6" *jumping is not my favorite, was nervous due to a bad fall. My horse was a 17.3 dutch warmblood and we did a lot of work training him from dressage to a jumper, including teaching him lead changes. You can email me at blondeovablue913@aol.com.

Heartbroken. Can anyone help? |
| |
|
Hello Everyone,
I'm hoping someone can help me out. Here is my situation:
I have a 20 year old TB Gelding. Recently he's had some hind-end lameness issues so I can't ride him now. I had my vet out to see him. Unfortunately, I don't have the resources to exhaust every option in diagnosing him. My vet was very clear that it would be expensive to figure out what is bothering him, and even if we find what's wrong, it doesn't mean we could treat it.
I have a hunch that my horse would be sound if he lived in a situation where he could be out all day. Right now, he only gets turnout for an hour or two each day. Before I decide to retire him (which breaks my heart), I want to try him somewhere with all day turnout or an in-and-out situation for a few months. Even a paddock with a run-in shed would be fine.
I'm looking for the above situation. I can pay about $400/month. If anyone has room available, please contact me at nbiondo401@yahoo.com.

Need help getting my horses ridden |
| |
|
Need an experienced rider to help get my horses ridden. I have a medium pony hunter prospect who needs to be schooled and a hunter schoolmaster that just needs light riding to keep his mind (and weight!) healthy. Can't always find the time to ride both. If you want more riding time - Email me! Horses are located in the Jamesport area. Looking for someone available 2-3 days/wk. Confident, experienced riders only. They are both fairly easy but really like soft, quiet riders.

I am looking for someone to school my horse a couple of days a week...He is an aged English hunter/jumper, TB, been there, done that. Not really looking for anything in return, no mucking or anything, just the occasional feeding when appropriate, wiping down tack when you're done, etc. Need to start back on a program.

IHA English Show |
| |
|
We had a great time at the show yesterday. Janine's Giddy-Up Gang likes to win but its not all about the winning. It's about improving your performance, your relationship with your horse, and the friendships you make with other contestants along the way. Because of this its hard to tell who exactly is a member of the Gang, and who are friends of the Gang.
In any case, Congratulations to Kayla on Zero to Hero (Mr G), who won the last two classes of the day. It makes me feel good to see a buckskin quarter horse put in a performance that brings him to the top of a class traditionally for thoroughbreds. I think my favorite part was when I pointed out to her that every horse was bulging out on its approach to the diagonal line, messing up it's distance to the first fence, form over the fence, and straight line to the next fence. Kayla went in and made the turn exactly how I asked her to, the horse was balanced, straight and hit his mark at the first fence then all she had to do was ride the line she had already set up to the second fence. Then she won the class. I love that!
Congratulations to Mikaela on Majik, the tiny black pony who couldn't even warm up because he was spooking at the roll top under the judge's feet and was going to be run over by the big horses. Not only that, but the 2' fences looked like they were almost as high as his withers! But she was a trouper and went in her classes anyway, and lo and behold- the pony jumped everything in its path with room to spare! Mikaela did it, this pony girl turned, aimed and paced this pony, giving it the support it needed to leap in the air and clear every obstacle. Good job Mikaela and especially to her trainer, Anna. (I sent that mini roll top home with the pony- it won't be a problem next time.) Mikaela rode to a championship in another division on the white pony! Great job.
Congratulations to Elizabeth- the owner of the little black pony who held it together and rode to reserve champion in pre- special beginner.
Congratulations to Amanda (the other owner of the pony) who pinned in her first lead line classes! Congratulations to Michelle, my friend Janice's niece who won the leadline division. What a nice little rider she is becoming, I can't wait to watch her in the years to come.
Congratulations to Carissa on Gadget who improved their performance throughout the day to take home a couple of firsts!
Congratulations to Nicole who took home at least one first that I saw, with her horse, Amaretto.
Congratulations to Alyssa for being the best sport and riding two different horses in her classes when she couldn't bring her own. I even saw some nice ribbons in her possession!
Sorry Jen, I was busy in the other two rings and didn't get to see you jump- I'm sure it was awesome.
Congratulation to Antoinette who is accustomed to winning on the flat but who is finally getting the hang of jumping and won her jumping class!
Giddy-Up, Janine

Should we post this? looking for job |
| |
|
I just moved back to the island and I am in desperate need of a job asap. I've been working at a barn upstate on a regular basis for the past year, so I would prefer working with horses. I've done everything from feeding (medications, supplements included) turn in and out, mucking out stalls, and I can pick out paddocks if need be. I have also been trusted to take care of approximately 15 horses while the barn owners were away for a few days (excluding morning feed because of school). I can also provide references if need be. I would prefer it if the barn is close to patchogue, but can go further if need be. But not too far since I don't have a car as of now. Please don't hesitate to call me at (631)827-9608 or email me at camera13obscura@aol.com

Looking for barn help (for pay) |
| |
|
Looking for someone to help with barn work twice a week. Just 2 stalls and 2 paddocks. Not a lot of
work, but with my military and civilian jobs, I'm having a hard time keeping up. Will pay $15 per
hour. I'm flexible with days but would prefer 1 weekend day (morning or afternoon) and one weekday
after 530 pm. Please email my blackberry at kristine.garland@associates.dhs.gov rather than the
yahoo email, which has been unreliable. Prefer someone nearby who can easily get here. I'm off
Connetquot park in Central Islip.

More Good Shepherd Kudos |
| |
|
We had a blast at the Good Shepherd Horse Trials this past Sunday. I echo Chris' comments about the great footing despite the rain. Think about it...where else on Long Island can you go that has cross country jumping consistently available, as well as great jumping and dressage rings? And professionally run Horse Trials which follow USEA standards? And people who are truly knowledgeable and care about making Eventing at the lower levels consistently available on Long Island?
Next Horse Trials July 19. Hope to see you there!

Free Lease - Seeking Experienced Rider for 6yo Friesian/Perch |
| |
|
LiHunter, I am interested in talking to you further. I have a 6-yo Friesian/Percheron that I am considering an on-site full lease for free for the summer at my backyard barn. I'll pay farrier, vet, I will even groom and clean the paddock for you to ride (a small dressage arena) - you just ride. I am busy rescuing dogs, but I love to watch my horse ride and I am his biggest fan. Would love to see him in some dressage shows if possible. I have a trailer, but it needs tires. He is 16'3 and he is amazing. He is kind and gentle and affectionate. He is willing and he is really smart. He is beautiful, too. If anyone is interested, I am seeking an EXPERIENCED rider. He was trained with natural horsemanship from a yearling, rode 3X a week in eng/dressage in the summer of his third year, did NH and some riding last summer and has been on the trails about three times now (the trails are right down the road) - thats all so he needs someone to consistently ride him and someone who will try to bring out his best abilities and, like I said, I will be your biggest fan. Please email me at: Crazy4Ranier@aol.com

Riding in exchange for barn work (green horses) |
| |
|
Hello all!
I have some information for anyone interested in riding in exchange for barn work. The location is in Old Westbury, and there are three rescued race horses available for riding. Two of them have bowed tendons, but all are sound for flatwork/trail. It should be noted, however, that they all need A LOT of work, so only reply if you want project horses! I don't have time to help out there anymore, and the owner knows nothing about horses. He has a handyman to do the bare minimum of stalls/feeding, but these horses need someone to love them! You would be doing all three stalls and maybe picking the paddocks or helping with feeding in exchange for doing whatever work you want with the horses. The owner also has a nice pool and hot tub, so you can go for a dip and hang out after your work :)
Let me know if you are interested, and I will give you more information.

Experienced rider looking to ride in exchange for barn work. |
| |
|
Hello. I have been riding for 11 years with consistant lessons and i am now looking for an opportunity to ride in exchange for barn work. I am 19 years old, almost 20. I am very friendly, responsible, out going, and easy to get along with. I have worked at barns, both public and private and have plenty of experience. I am also certified in CPR, AED, First Aid, ICS 10/11: Animals in Disasters, and more. Always helpful to have around the barn, especially if you have boarders or give lessons.
I can muck stalls, clean paddocks, groom, wash, feed, turn out, etc. I also would enjoy doing office work, helping with lessons/pony parties, and taking out trails as i have experience with that as well. I have spent the bulk of my time riding english but have experience with western pleasure. I am experienced and confident on all types of horses from green to your everyday school horse. I ride correctly, with soft hands, and i am a firm believer in the progression of aids verses just kicking the horse to get what you want. I will make sure your horse is safe and happy at all times while i am there.
I am looking to ride a sound and healthy horse who is well schooled and well behaved. The option to go on trail would be great and I would really like the opportunity to do a few local schooling shows this season as well, after you are comfortable with me, of course.
A barn that is reasonably close would be ideal. Manorville, Eastport, Ridge, Middle Island, Shirley, Moriches, Medford, Yaphank, Patchouge, etc.
Thank you for your time!
